Upon a few visits to the library, I quickly realised that there is a lot of work out there that deals with portraiture in a contemporary way - they are visually appealing not just because of detail, but because of colour, composition etc. they are more than ordinary in the way they represent people - they depict mood, style, magic. They inspire me because not only do I want to learn how to do this in my practice as a whole, but I'm also looking at the intangible sense of magic and fantasy within my Authors project. A few of the books I looked at to begin with dealt with the subject of Fantasy Art, but I also looked at the Fashion and style category in 'Contemporary Illustration and it's Context Vol 2' because I felt that a lot of the work was magical.
